BIRDMAN AND IDA WINNERS AT BAFTA
London, UK – 8 February 2015 – Codex is proud to have supported BAFTA award winners Birdman and Ida.
Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki won the award for Best Cinematography for the second year in a row. Last year he won for Gravity. Michael Keaton, star of Birdman, accepted the award because Chivo is currently shooting The Revenant in Calgary, Canada with Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. All three movies relied heavily on Codex technology for recording and workflow.
Birdman was one of the very first feature films to be shot with the ARRI ALEXA XT, with built-in Codex recording.
Best Foreign Language Film went to Polish film Ida, shot in beautiful black and white by cinematographers Ryszard Lenczewski and Lukasz Zal and directed by Pawel Pawlikowski.
Ida also used Codex recording and workflow technology along with ARRI ALEXA cameras and won the Golden Frog at the 2013 Camerimage Film Festival in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
