When Director Andy Muschietti’s IT hit theaters in 2017, it was a massive, unprecedented success at the box office. The feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel did numbers akin to a big budget blockbuster and became the most successful horror movie of all time. So expectations were high that his sequel, IT Chapter Two, would do just as well at the box office.
IT Chapter Two, opened on September 6 and made $91 million at the US box office in its opening weekend. That debut earned it the 2nd spot for all-time horror and all-time September opening weekends.
It has taken $387.7 million worldwide to date and looks set to becoming one of the biggest films of 2019. Watch the trailer.
