What is the capacity of the Capture Drive XR 1024GB?
Model CX.000081093 is 1024GB (960GB usable).

Note: Capture Drive XR 1024GB contains 2 SSDs. In ProRes recording mode only a single SSD is used, giving a usable capacity of 480GB.

What cameras and recording formats are supported?
Capture Drive XR 1024GB works with the ARRI ALEXA XT and SXT, and can record all formats and framerates of ARRIRAW and ProRes that were possible on the original XR Capture Drive (512GB).

What recording time is available on Capture Drive XR 1024GB?
Some example recording times on Capture Drive XR 1024GB are given below:

I have accidentally reformatted a Capture Drive XR 1024GB. Can the data be recovered?

The Erase option in Device Manager is a good way to prepare your Media to return to camera once all data has been safely offloaded. You will then be prompted automatically to format the Capture Drive once it is loaded back on camera.

Which Docks are compatible with the Capture Drive XR 1024GB?
Capture Drive XR 1024GB can be used with:

XR Capture Drive Dock (Thunderbolt 1) CDX-7513
XR Capture Drive Dock (USB-3) CDX-7510 / CDX-75102 / CDX-75112
XR Capture Drive Dual Dock (SAS) CDX-7500 / CDX-75002

Are any new Docks being manufactured that support Capture Drive XR 1024GB?
There are currently no plans to manufacture new Docks to support Capture Drive XR 1024GB.

How long does it take to download a full Capture Drive XR 1024GB?
Offload times will depend on whether ARRIRAW or ProRes has been recorded, and the type of Dock used.

The times below assume that the backup storage being used can support the data rate that is available from the Capture Drive.

If a copy application is used to perform verification (recommended) this will add some overhead to the process - depending on the type of checksum and verification method it may double the overall offload time compared to the times listed below.

Can I put camera tape or other labels on a Capture Drive XR 1024GB?
No tape or labels should be applied to the metal surfaces of the Drive. The bottom surface of the Drive is made of black anodised metal and must be kept clean to ensure that it does not overheat during recording. This is because the metal surface makes direct contact with the camera’s cooling core.

We strongly recommend that camera or fabric tape should be avoided as it may impede the Drive being loaded in the Dock, and leave residue that could cause damage or prevent proper cooling.
